Why is this a Thing?

So... flat earthers are apparently a thing. I mean, I always knew there were flat earthers out there but I always thought it was like a joke or a meme. Like, no one actually truly believes in a flat earth, right?
Well, apparently, some people are serious about the earth being flat and it peaked my interest. Mostly, I just want to know... why? The concept makes my head hurt. Maybe it's because I never believed in a flat earth, but trying to absorb all these 'flat earth' arguments quite literally makes my head hurt.
I mean, let's be honest. Round earthers are pulling a conspiracy over everyone's heads and we need flat earthers to convince us that the earth is not a sphere but it's a... a... disc...? Cube...? Never ending expanse of land...? Does the Earth even have an edge? Are there more than seven continents?
HAS THE GOVERNMENT BEEN LYING TO US?????!!!!!!
I did research on arguments that serious flat earthers make to prove their point, and wow... there's a lot of stuff.
Almost every question I have about Flat Earthers and why they believe what they believe has been answered. I have sources at the end of this blog if you want to see for yourself.
Here's one question.
1. For starters, what reason would the government have to lie to us about the shape of the planet? What is even the purpose of it?
Oh, okay. So they aren't lying to us. It's simply that 100 percent of every astronomer and astrologist does not know what basic shapes look like.
Mmm.... seems legit.
Here's a way to fix this problem. We should make sure that schools teach children basic shapes from an early age... oh wait...

I don't even know what to say. I really don't. This is sounding less like a scientific belief and more like a conspiracy theory. Space travel has been faked from its inception? They lied to the public about traveling into space when in actuality, no one has been able (or dared) to go farther than the edge of the atmosphere?
The fact that they are not joking and are being 100 percent serious about this makes my head hurt.
3. How do you explain the numerous pictures we have of a round earth?
"Photographic evidence is too easily manipulated and altered. Many of the videos posted to "prove a round earth" by showing curvature will show no curvature or even convex curvature at parts. Furthermore, barrel distortion and other quirks of modern cameras will cause a picture to distort with little or no apparent altercation; especially without references within the picture. Photographs are also prone to distortion when taken through the bent glass of a pressurized cabin as well as atmospheric conditions on the outside. With this litany of problems, it's easy to see why photographic evidence is not to be trusted."
Hm... ok. This may be one of the better arguments I've seen. Am I convinced though? I mean, what have we learned so far? That the people who's seen earth with their own eyes can't distinguish shapes? That space travel in itself has been faked from day one for... some indeterminable reason. And we cannot trust photographic evidence because photos alter the picture of a flat earth to look like a round earth despite the fact that I've never actually seen a picture make something that was a flat look like a sphere... ever... in my life...
I mean, I've seen photos that made spheres look flat... but I don't recall the reverse ever having been true... hm...
Let's move on.

Wait... so... the earth... is... a disk... with ice walls surrounding it...? What...?
5. Why doesn't gravity pull the earth into a spherical shape?

I had to stop reading right there because this is seriously making my brain hurt. Is gravity a conspiracy theory too...?

......................... Yeah, I'm done. I'm done blogging about this. My brain can't handle any more of this. It's just too ridiculous for me to process. I'm sorry, flat earthers. I tried to take your theories seriously. I can't. I hope you guys get the help you need.
I'm going to go... read a book... or do something to heal my aching brain...
